Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your personal information

At NZ Gates ("we", "our", "us"), we respect your privacy and are committed to handling personal information responsibly and transparently in accordance with New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Personal Information We Collect

We may collect personal information you provide when you:

  • request a quote or contact us
  • sign up for updates or newsletters
  • use our website or services

This may include your name, address, email, phone number, property details and any other information you submit to support your enquiry.

2. Purpose of Collection

We collect personal information only when necessary for purposes connected to our services, including:

  • responding to your inquiries
  • preparing and providing quotes or proposals
  • scheduling site visits, installations, or maintenance
  • processing payments or managing account details
  • sending updates, newsletters, or marketing, where you have given consent (in line with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007)

3. How We Collect Information

We collect your personal information primarily when you voluntarily provide it through:

  • contact forms on our site
  • email or phone enquiries
  • direct communication during site visits, calls or meetings

We never collect personal information covertly or from public sources without a lawful basis.

We take care to store your personal information securely and protect it from unauthorised access, modification, disclosure, or loss. Our physical and digital security measures are designed to comply with IPP 5.

5. Use and Disclosure

We use your personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected. We do not trade or share it with third parties unless:

  • it's necessary for service delivery (e.g. contractors or service providers)
  • required by law
  • you have consented
  • in compliance with a relevant privacy law, including IPP 11 on disclosure limitations

6. Overseas Data Transfers

If your personal data is transferred outside New Zealand (for example to a service provider overseas), we ensure an equivalent level of privacy protection, in line with IPP 12 and relevant Act requirements.

7. Access and Correction

You have the right to access your personal information and request corrections where necessary. To do so, contact us using the details below. We may charge a reasonable fee for access if required by law.

8. Privacy Breach Notification

If a privacy breach occurs and is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify both affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as required by the Act.

9. Privacy Officer

We have appointed a Privacy Officer responsible for overseeing our compliance with privacy obligations, handling enquiries or complaints, and liaising with the Privacy Commissioner as needed.

10. Cookies and Online Tracking

Our website may use cookies or similar tools for analytics and functionality. We use Google Ads and Google Analytics to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. Google Ads conversion tracking uses cookies to identify users who click on our ads and later visit our website. These tools may collect device information, IP address, and approximate location.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can manage ad personalisation through Google Ad Settings.

You may opt out or restrict cookies via your browser settings. We do not use cookies to collect sensitive personal information.
